Bios Carla M. Levy, Associate Snapshot:
Carla has experience in patent prosecution in a wide variety of electromechanical and computer software arts, as well as trademark prosecution and opposition practice. Carla also has been involved in intellectual property litigation and preparation of opinions in the areas of medical devices, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and computer software. She has a technical background in physics, with particular experience in stabilized diode lasers, optics, and signal detection and analysis at optical, microwave, and radio frequencies. A Bigger Picture:Carla joined LL&A in 2005, after working for three years as an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group at Foley Hoag LLP in Boston. She is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts in Massachusetts and before the Federal Circuit, and she is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Carla focuses her practice on patent prosecution and advising clients on obtaining, maintaining, and enforcing all types of intellectual property rights. She has represented clients in a diverse array of technologies, including medical devices, biotechnology, scanning and imaging technology, and computer software. Outside the office, Carla enjoys being a dilettante and a geek of all trades. She plays cello and bass guitar, and listens to music from around the world, particularly India, Africa, and the Middle East. Her interest in comparative and historical linguistics has guided her through studies of Latin, French, and ancient Hebrew, and she is presently learning Hindi. She has dabbled in prestidigitation, and her passion for cooking elaborate feasts is second only to her passion for eating them.
